Introducing Memo—a visionary app for a college project, specifically designed to aid elderly individuals coping with Alzheimer's and their caretakers. Serving as a vital connection between patients and caregivers, Memo eases the significant challenges in caring for those with Alzheimer's. This project involved extensive research into the intricacies of the illness, along with an exploration of the best design decisions to ensure seamless and confident usage for individuals from older generations.

An app for a different generation

The main objective was to create an app with an intuitive interface, ensuring accessibility for users unfamiliar with technology. Employing a soothing color palette and lively illustrations that cultivate an environment of relaxation was a big focus for me and my partner in this project, Valeria Loyola, offering users a positive ambiance. By simplifying the interface without compromising functionality, the app aims to provide a seamless and enjoyable user experience to both the patient and their caregiver.

The app was designed to have a suite of features, including timely reminders, a comprehensive contact sheet housing essential information about their loved ones, and a seamless, direct connection between patients and caregivers within the app. Tailored specifically for older demographics, the design prioritizes high interactivity to mitigate challenges associated with technical unfamiliarity prevalent in certain generations. This approach not only addresses the technological hurdles faced by older users but also enriches the overall Memo experience, ensuring it is both user-friendly and comprehensive in its support for those navigating the complexities of Alzheimer's care.

Illustrating well-being

The decision to incorporate lively, modern illustrations in the app's branding is rooted in fostering positive engagement, reducing stigma, and creating a universally appealing design.

The playful illustrations not only contribute to a joyous user experience but also serve as a strategic tool to encourage positive health habits, making the app more approachable and encouraging sustained user engagement in their well-being journey.
